Shirley (Harrison) Calvert

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Shirley Calvert, with family by her side, on Friday, April 21, 2023 at St. Anthony's Hospital, The Pas, Manitoba, at the age of 83 years.

Shirley was born on Sunday, September 3, 1939 in Sudbury, Ontario.

She was united in marriage to John Calvert on August 31, 1957 in Flin Flon. Their four eldest children were born in Flin Flon and then the family moved to The Pas in the summer of 1969 where they welcomed two more children over the next few years.

Shirley enjoyed crocheting and reading thousands of books (she wore out 2 Kobos and a Kindle!). She always had her cross words and word search books close by as well. One of her favorite things to do was making puzzles with her friends and some of her favorites are on display at the High Rise. Shirley also loved going to the casino and she always looked forward to her spring trips to Las Vegas.

She was very tech-savvy and she used that to stay in touch with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, enjoying many pictures of the family on Facebook.

Shirley is survived by her children Ricky Calvert, Randy (Evelyn) Calvert, Glen (Penny) Calvert, Donna (Vince) Calvert, Shelley (Lawrence) Petit and Dale (Jocelyn) Calvert; her grandchildren Kaila, Andrew, Codi, Amanda, Kerry, Alannah, Grant, Renee, Josie, Ashley, Ethan and Alexa and numerous great-grandchildren.

Shirley was predeceased by her husband, John and her mother, Ethel Harrison.

In keeping with Shirley's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
