Simon John Greenleaf was born in The Pas, Manitoba to Susan Greenleaf and Oliver Colomb on Friday, February 7, 1969. As an infant Simon John’s mother passed and he was raised by his grandparents John and Flora Greenleaf, aunt MaryAnn and uncle German.
Simon received his education at Mary Duncan and Scott Bateman. Simon John loved the outdoors, often fishing with the Dragons and telling his comical stories about Winnipeg and his travels across Canada. His adventurous spirit was accepted by all and naturally people gravitated to him and his interesting ways. He also hitchhiked all the way to Vancouver, he said, because he was bored. He was a huge Jets and Blue Bomber fan.
He was employed as an Otineka Mall Development Custodial/Maintenance staff member, he would always joke that he owned the mall and that he was a Mall Cop. He enjoyed interacting with all his co-workers and people who would visit the Otineka Mall making many friendships along the way. What is most genuine about Simon was his generosity and his humble kind nature. He would help others and he collected pop can tabs to contribute to making wheelchairs for children. He loved his family very much spending time with his brother Delbert fishing and cruising around checking in on family often as they could and spending time with his many friends joking around, singing and playing cards. Yes, Simon was a great friend to many and always talked proudly of his son Jesse James.
Simon John is survived by his son Jesse (Robin) Mason; siblings Danny, Suzanne, Louie and John Paul Colomb; father Oliver Colomb; aunts Mary Greenleaf, Jane Cook and Anne Colomb; and many family members, too numerous to mention.
Simon John is predeceased by his mother Susan Greenleaf; sister Lyla Colomb; niece Larrissa Crane; cousins Margaret Mayham, John George Greenleaf, Lydia Greenleaf, Lorretta Jane Greenleaf, John Cook, Matthew (Chigun) Cook; uncles Alex Fosseneuve, Zachius (German) Greenleaf, Angus Cook; aunts Mary Anne Fosseneuve, Angelic Dumas; mom and dad (grandparents) Flora and John Greenleaf.
