Susan Azure Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce that our mother, grandmother, chapan, sister, auntie, mother in-law, Susan Azure passed on to the spirit world on February 23, 2025.

Susan was born on March 18, 1942 in The Pas, Manitoba to Alfred and Catherine Cook. She spent her younger years in Cumberland House, Saskatchewan and attended school up until grade 6 and also Barrier Settlement. Susan made her way back to The Pas and settled in Umpherville which she made her home. Susan met and married Ralph Azure in 1973 and they had two children, Max and Joe. Susan had 3 children, Vinetta, Alfred and Helen prior to marrying Ralph.

Susan’s wish was to travel outside of Canada and she accomplished this by getting her passport in 2019 and she did a road trip to North Dakota and Las Vegas where she stood on the Hoover Dam.

Susan was a very hard working woman. She went to Keewatin Community College for culinary arts. This brought her to many places for work, leaving her children for a month at a time to support her family. She worked at Wescana Inn, Limestone, Tolko, Flin Flon at a camp and Kikiwak.  She also volunteered as the elder for The Pas Sweetgrass Head Start Centre Inc. Board of Directors. She always told us to work hard to take care of our families. She instilled this trait in all of her children. She made sure that we all baptized our babies which was told to her by her late father. Susan was a very humble person and very humorous, always joking around with her friends and family.  She had many friends.

Susan enjoyed spending time with all her children, grandchildren, and chapans. She enjoyed playing solitaire, plays slots and reading. She loved going to church on Sundays when she could. She liked to go cruising with her children and friends.

Susan is survived by her children, Vinetta (Wesley)Umpherville, Helen (Adam) Cook, Alfred (Priscilla) Lundie, Joseph (Caroline) Azure. Grandchildren; Dallas (Melissa), Logan(Dawn), Jeremy, Marie, Wesley Jr., Deidre, Joseph, Jaylyn, Kayla, Ashley, Kaitlin, Paige, Hailey, Hanson, Chloe, Kevin, Coby. Chapans; Hunter, Sundin, Erin, Rylan, Lexie, Aubree, Jiren, Logan Jr., Nazary, Renezzmae, Tray, Oceania, Jaeda, Jerzey, Jamie, Jayna, Ryleigh, Raylyn, Octavia, Neveah, Noah, Nadia, Genesis, Graham, Kaislyn, Kaidence.

Susan was predeceased by her husband Ralph, son, Max, her parents, Alfred and Catherine, siblings; Walter Cook, Flora Bradburn, Victoria Mink, Christina Martin and Charlie Moore. In-Laws, Abraham Martin, John Bradburn, Walter Mink, Max Azure, Shirley Lathlin, Marvin Lathlin and Ken Azure.
