Susan Ettawakapow Obituary

It is with great sadness and sorrow to announce the passing of our mom Susan Muriel on Friday, May 8, 2026 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, The Pas, MB at the age of 74 years. Susan was born August 3, 1951 at Cedar Lake, MB to Amelia and John Buck. Mom was united in Marriage to our dad James “Horse” Ettawakapow on December 28, 1968.

              Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Mom was always cooking and baking on family gatherings. Her home was always opened to anyone, she always had tea, coffee or something to eat. Her Grandchildren and cha-pans would always stop by and she would give them treats. She loved going camping every year with her kids, Grandchildren, Family & Friends at North Arm Camp. When mom was in her younger years, she worked as a home maker, a foster parent for the Awasis Agency, and she was also employed at Cook’s Receiving Home. She enjoyed going to elders night at the Wellness Centre, and she loved playing Bugger and Bingo with her buddies. She will be missed by her sister/cousin Eva Buck, as they were very close, also her nephew Reuben Grey, he was always there for her to help in anyway possible.

Susan is survived by her children: Margaret (Ricky) Patchinose, Emma (Gabriel) Dorion, Delia Ettawakapow, Matthew (Rose) Ettawakapow, Ronalda (Fabian) Campbell, Sidney Ettawakapow, Bernell Ettawakapow, Bernelda “Katt” Ettawakapow, Foster Son: Neil Clyne Son in Laws: George Hart, Grandchildren: Tyrone Ettawakapow, James Patchenose, Rosalie Patchenose, Ricky Patchenose Jr. Braden Patchenose, Jayden Patchenose, Trevor Patchenose, Kashton Patchenose, Leeandra Patchenose, Rickayla Patchenose, Sharla (Adrian) Saunders, Rueben Ettawakapow, James (Erin)Ettawakapow, Breanne Ettawakapow, Peter Dorion, Susan Dorion, Malcolm (Kelsey) Ettawakapow, Melanie Ettawakapow, Mitchell Ettawakapow, Martina Ettawakapow, Dale Genialle, Brittany Ballantyne, Katelyn Ettawakapow, Tyrell Ettawakapow, Chantara Ettawakapow, Tarryn Nasekapow, Aarryn Nasekapow, Creelynn Nasekapow, Jocelyn Campbell, Wyatt Campbell, Josiah Campbell, Clarice Campbell, Fabian Campbell Jr., Matthew Campbell, Brian Campbell, Kyler Campbell, Blessed with many Cha-pans, Nieces, Nephews, too Numerous to mention. Susan is also survived by her sister’s: Emma Campbell, Carol Grey, Priscilla McKay, Tara Blacksmith, Brothers: Wilfred Mack Buck, Clifford Buck, James (Donna) Buck, Roland Buck. Brother in laws: Harvey Blacksmith, James Blacksmith - Commissioner, as they would call each other. She also survived by her godchildren: Matilda Tobacco-Ballantyne, Bernard Tobacco, William Grey, Amelia Buck, Nathan Young, Brian Bignell, Gilbert Buck, James Buck, William Ettawakapow, Felicia Patchenose. If we forgot to mention anyone, it was not intentional

She was predeceased by her husband James Etawakapow daughter Isabelle Cathy Hart, 2 infant grandchildren and 2 infant great grandchildren. Parents: Amelia & John Buck, Sisters Florence Campbell, Maria Grey, and Beverly Blacksmith. Brothers Ralph (Melvina) Buck, Reuben Buck. Brother in laws: Joseph Campbell, Percy Grey, Jonas Grey, Purvis McKay, Alfred (Boy-G) Tobacco. If we forgot to mention anyone, it was not intentional.
