Sydney Wallace McKay, born March 24, 1942, in The Pas, Manitoba, passed away on January 2, 2026.
Sydney was predeceased by his parents, Blake and Elsie McKay, and his siblings, Ralph and Heather.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Julia; his children Penny (Glen), Karen, and Andrew (January); his grandchildren Alannah (Parker), Grant (Audrey), Michael, Ben, Kate, and Quinn; and his great-grandchildren Ridge and Wesley. He is also survived by his siblings Marvin and Bonnie.
Sydney had a deep love for the outdoors and spent countless hours hunting and fishing, especially while living at the lake a place that brought him great peace and joy. In addition to his time outdoors, he was known for his passion for knife making, a hobby and business that reflected his patience, skill, and appreciation for craftsmanship. His handmade knives were treasured by many and stand as a lasting reminder of his talent and dedication.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Those wishing to honour Sydney's memory are encouraged to spend time outdoors or enjoy a quiet moment at the lake, remembering him in the way he loved best. Those wishing to make donations, please donate to a charity of your choice.
