Violet Lagimodiere Obituary

Remembered With Love

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Vi Lagimodiere with family at her side, on Saturday, January 7, 2023, age 88, at Saint Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, MB. Vi was born in The Pas, MB to Richard and Dorothy King on January 21, 1934. She lived her entire life in The Pas, only having moved to Winnipeg this past October, 2022.

Vi and Maurice (“Moe”) were married on September 27, 1952. They had six children: Maureen, Judi, Valerie, Leslie, Gregory and Mark. Mom lived her life with style and grace. She was a devoted homemaker and her entire life centered around her family. Together Vi and Moe were often known for hosting many wonderful gatherings with family and close friends. They also had the good fortune to travel to numerous beautiful destinations throughout their married life. Of all their vacation destinations, their cabin at Clearwater Lake was, by far, their favorite, having treasured it for several decades.

Throughout her life Vi contributed to her community by volunteering and did so for The Pas Hospital Auxiliary, The Catholic Women’s League, canvassed for the Heart and Stroke Foundation, as well as doing various tasks at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cathedral, to name a few. Vi was a fan of games! She enjoyed playing cards, scrabble, sudoku and began each day with games on her ipad over a cup of coffee. She also loved to sew and knit and was exceptional at both. Her entire family has many keepsakes of her handy work to cherish.

Vi was a very classy lady who loved to dress in the latest fashion and wouldn’t think of leaving the house unless her hair was curled. (Also known to have left one roller in her hair before going out.) Although she took great pride in her appearance, her favorite outfit at home was her housecoat or lounge set. She wore them well!

Vi is survived by her children - Maureen (Bob) Murray, Judi (Gerald) Nelson, Valerie Lagimodiere, Leslie (Barry) Hiebert, Mark (Fawn) Lagimodiere. Her grandchildren Michelle (Jason) Mailhot, Jillian (Kyle) Sephton, Drew (Robin) Nelson, Megan Lagimodiere Bastian (Bricker), Nicole Hiebert, Marleea (Aaron) Potter and Shea Lagimodiere . Her great grandchildren Ainsley and Owen Sephton, Sutter Nelson and was looking forward to welcoming her 4th great grandchild in a few days. She is also survived by her brother, Richard (Valerie) King.

Vi was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Dorothy King, her husband Moe, her brother Clifford King (and his wife Jennie), her son Gregory and grandson Blair Murray, as well as several relatives and close friends.

As a family we would like to extend our sincerest thanks to the multi-disciplinary care team at Saint Boniface Hospital, in-patient unit 4A South, as well as the ICU. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery, The Pas, MB, at a later date.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
