Wesley Andrew Flett

             It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Wesley Andrew Flett, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.  Wesley passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday, June 30, 2019, at St. Anthony’s Hospital, The Pas, Manitoba, at the age of 62 years.

             Wesley was born Tuesday, October 16, 1956 in Pikwitonei, Manitoba.

             Wesley met the love of his life, Shirley at Devon Park in The Pas, in 1974.  Together they were blessed with 6 sons: Twins passed on at birth in 1981, Daniel (Diane), Justin (Myrna), Neil and  Darren (Corinna). Wesley will be leaving behind 17 grandchildren: Daniel’s children Amy Dawn, Daniel Jr., Danielle, Jake; Justin’s children Zada, Justin Jr., Clayana, Taylor, Allan, Tasscia; Neil’s children Blaze, Tiara; Darren’s children Aiden, Keanna, Breana, Ariana,Tiana.

Adopted Granddaughter Lexi.

Wesley lived in The Pas all his life with family, worked at various jobs throughout his life, Kettle Camp in Gillam, Parks Branch in The Pas, taxi driver and Ducks Unlimited.

He loved to take pictures for weddings, gatherings and pow-wows.  He did a walk from The Pas to Winnipeg in 2011 and 2013 for missing and murdered women for his missing sister.  He was supported by many and recognized for his appreciation for walking for missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.

Wesley was predeceased by his parents William and Margaret Flett of Split Lake Band; sons Adam and Jeffery Flett (twins); brothers Joshua Flett, Ralph Flett; sister Mary Ann Flett; mother-in-law Clara Lagace; has a missing sister Mildred Flett (2010) and recently other cousins that have passed on.

Wesley leaves to mourn his wife of 44 years, Shirley; 4 sons Daniel (Diane), Justin (Myrna), Darren (Corinna) and Neil; sisters Lynda Neckoway (Caleb), Donna Flett (Edwards); brother Alexander Flett; nephews, nieces and extended family.

Special thanks to St. Anthony’s Hospital Cancer Care Staff, Hemauer Funeral Home for caring for our family.  All relatives and family that came to see Wesley during his last days of his journey.  Thank you for all your support and caring.
