Dear son of the late Gloria Budd (nee Cook) and William Budd Sr. and step-father Bert Constant Sr..
William lived in Cumberland House, SK with his foster parent Judeline Moore and family till he became of age. When William became of age, he told his aunty (mother) Judeline Moore that he wanted to go meet his dad, Bert Constant of Opaskwayak, MB. He then travelled to Opaskwayak to meet his family. He made OCN his home.
Junior had become well known to the family here in OCN, often having written long stories in his notebook. That was his way of communicating, was writing in his notebook; cause nobody knew sign language. He would often share his convo’s with people he knew.
William had a disability but that didn’t stop him from venturing out in the community and going to school; although he made it to his level 1 of Carpentry at UCN in The Pas, MB. It was by coincidence that we have 2 family members that did some sign language with him; our cousin Melissa helped him learn his daughters name in sign language. His face lit with excitement that he was able to share his thoughts and expressed his love for his daughter through sign language.
William had many friends here and in the surrounding communities, he hung out with his fellow buddies in The Pas, MB. At a young age, he attended the Mini Olympics that was held in Regina, SK. He competed in the wrestling. The Mini Olympics are now known as the Indigenous Summer Games. William went on to win the Gold Medal in Cumberland House, SK along with his teammates.
William leaves to mourn, his daughter Selena Budd; his brothers Clyde Cook and Dennis Constant; also his bro ‘Popeye’; step-brothers Adrian, Bert Jr. (Jennifer), Earl; and sister Destiny; and his foster family in Cumberland House. If we forgot to mention anyone, it wasn’t intentional.
