William Corson Obituary

Come and Go Reception at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, Monday, June 24th from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Bill was born in Vancouver, British Columbia where as a young boy he loved to be outside. His family often went to the mountains where he learned to live off the land, hunt and fish, skills he used throughout his life. Bill and his family also followed the racing circuit which fueled his love of cars, especially his Barracuda. He was even a roadie for a time with some well known singers. As a boy Bill played baseball on a local team. His love of sports grew until he started to play rugby. Bill worked his way up the line until he traveled the world playing for team Canada. In the off season Bill had many jobs which made him a jack of all trades. He seemed to know a little of everything. Tree trimming, potato farming and learned how to survive in the bush while taking survival courses and help fight forest fires, just to name a few.

As life moved on so did Bill, he left Vancouver and headed east and landed in Mafeking, Manitoba where one of his jobs was driving the school bus. In his free time Bill loved to trap, hunt and fish.

Moving again Bill landed in The Pas, Manitoba.

Bill was always such a personable man; he could get along with anyone. People would see him and say "I know him from somewhere". Bill worked at Spud's Specials and did commercial fishing with the Jaeger's at the minnow plant, or maybe you saw him at the Gateway where he may have served you a drink or escorted you out. Maybe he took you somewhere when he drove for City cab or most recently he may have shared a story or two while he drove the shuttle for Northland Ford where he was lovingly known as "Billy Bob", a name he was proud to have. Bill worked for Ford for over 7 years always helping in anyway he could until for health reasons he had to retire in 2022.

One of his fondest memories were the fishing trips he would take to Moose Lake with a group of friends from Iowa.

Bill had many loves in his life but in the summer of 2001 Bill met a woman visiting from the USA named Maureen. As their love grew Maureen was unsure if she wanted to move so far away from her family so she ask God for a sign and she saw the most beautiful rainbow she had ever seen, so she left her American dreams behind and married a Canadian man. Bill and Maureen were soon joined by Christopher (Maureen's son) who also found his Canadian dream in Lisa.

Bill and Maureen married on February 22, 2007 with a few family and friends in attendance. Bill took a city girl and turned her into a country girl teaching her how to grow a garden enough to feed a town, you may have had a zucchini or two. He used to carry veggies with him to share.

Bill and Maureen never had children together but they had a number of dogs he called their "kids".

Maureen took care of Bill at home with the help of home care until March of 2024 when he needed more care so he moved to the Flin Flon Personal Care home where he quickly made friends. The loving and caring staff made him feel at home. On June 10* Maureen was called and told she should come see Bill.

Maureen was able to spend 2 nights with Bill until on the morning of June 12" with the sun shining through the crystal in the window casting rainbows on the walls the old Irishman grabbed hold of a rainbow and slid to his pot of gold.

He will be truly missed.
